Cascade    Olympic National Park, Washington, USA

One of the great advantages of using a 4x5 camera is the ability to change the plane of focus. Having the option to either tilt the film plane, lens plane or both at the same time is a real bonus in photography, especially when using longer focal lengths. In this image I wanted to bring all of the elements together so that this gently slopping stream had the appearance of being less dimensional. By using a 500mm lens combined with some lens/film plane tilt and overcast light I was able to flatten the scene out but still maintain sharpness throughout.
